Library Advisory Committee ( LAC) :

The purpose of the Library Committee is to act as a channel of communication and dialogue between the Central Library and its users. The objective is to aid in the establishment of a bridge between the Central Library and the library users.
The function of the Library Committee is to inform itself of the functioning of the Library so "it can assist in developing operational procedures; to assist in the development of both personnel and fiscal policies and procedures; to advise the Faculty & Students Council and the president concerning the direction and growth of the Library.

Functions and Objectives:

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COMMITTEE.

  1. It shall usually meet at the beginning of the academic year.
  2. To provide general direction to the Central Library.
  3. To review the school-wise proposal of the library regarding its support of the institute's academic programs.
  4. To outline the library collection and development policy as and when required during its implementation.
  5. To monitor and evaluate the trends and developments in information technologies, networking, library automation, library cooperation, Library timings, etc., and to direct the library's day-to-day function.
  6. Formulate an action plan to develop library infrastructure, facilities, products, and services.
  7. Evaluate the suggestions offered by the library faculties and students.
  8. To formulate the policy for library use and the procedure to be followed
  9. To assist the library in providing need-based information services.
  10. To assess the requirements of the new programs being introduced and advise the authority of the library about the financial status to be improved
  11. Estimating the books procurement and allocation of budget accordingly
  12. To assist in stock verification, Weed out/Write off from the library stock
  13. I recommend that management improve the library resources and facilities as needed.
  14. Any other function as assigned by the chairperson of CLAC for overall development.

FUNCTIONS OF THE CENTRAL LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE ( LAC) :

Being the advisory body, there are various functions the library committee to perform.

The main functions of the  Library Advisory Committee are;   

  1. To review all proposals received from various schools on the Shirpur campus
  2. To give final decision and approval
  3. If the requirement is above 1lackh, we should be forwarded for OB.
  4. To prepare proper collection development and selection policy for libraries.
  5. To formulate a development plan for the Library
  6. To prepare budget proposals for the development of the Library
  7. To suggest to the Deputy Librarian the distribution of funds made available to purchase books, journals, and other academic requirements.
  8. To seek feedback on Library functioning from users through the Library suggestion.
  9. To consider the annual report submitted by the Deputy Librarian
  10. To consider the views of Library users for improved Library services
  11. To take action against irregular users who have yet to return the library books on time.
  12. To take action against the users in case of any misbehavior which is beyond the control   of the Deputy Librarian
  13. To decide on the un-service-able/old books, missing/weeding out/write off books to replace.
  14. Approval of the minutes of the previous Committee meetings is required.
  15. To recommend to the authorities for filling the staff requirements, vacant posts of the Library.
  16. The LAC has the power to write off/lose books of any kind on reasonable grounds that may be implemented.
